Remind the children of India about 14th November and you will see smiling faces all around. It is a day children love to go to school unlike the other days. It is a day when school is all about fun and frolic. It is the day teachers leave their growling faces at home and become more of friends. This sudden change in the atmosphere is something that all students wait for throughout the year. The scene is no different in the picturesque town of Dehradun. The scenic town is famous for its educational institutions. Both the schools and the colleges are well known and attract hundreds of students from around the country every year. Every year Children’s Day is celebrated with full gusto in Doon. All Dehradun schools come full of life with cheers, smiles and laughter filling the air. If you were to pass any of the schools on 14th November, it would be hard to imagine that inside the same premises there are students who are preparing themselves for the world outside! Such is the atmosphere. However, it is always the same every year. In Kasiga School’s boarding, the children wake up to a wonderful surprise. Unknown to them, at night their dormitory is filled with balloons and charts. It is a wonderful experience to see the innocent faces, twinkling eyes early morning. The matrons and the wardens win the hearts of these teeming beauties with their simple gesture. At school, the fun continue with humorous news reading sessions, remembering Chacha Nehru and most importantly no studies the entire day! This is however not the end of the day. Junior school teachers make charts of Rupunzel, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Hansel and Gretel, much to the delight of the kids. Another Dehradun school, Scholar School celebrates the day by remembering the great leader and first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Children sing songs; deliver inspiring speeches on the occasion. Ankit Social Welfare Society celebrates in a noble manner by spending time with the slum kids. Since the time of inception of the NGO, they have been committed to provide education to children and celebrate the day with them. Over the years, Children’s Day has become an important event in Dehradun. Being a town with many schools in its vicinity, the entire population is in a celebratory mood. After the day schools get over, parents take their little ones for a treat to the restaurants in Rajpur Road. The street, the hub of all activities, seems to be smiling with so many happy and little customers around. Many restaurants, shops and malls decorate their interiors to lure more customers. The world of Internet is also not very far away from catching up the fever. Many prominent websites such as allindoon wishes the children on the occasion. Allindoon also lists the events in Dehradun for the benefit of its visitors. Check out other articles at http://www.allindoon.com.
