Robert Zimmerman Jr., brother of George Zimmerman, currently under investigation in the shooting death of 17 year old Floridian, Trayvon Martin, in an interview with Piers Morgan, says his brother was in fear for his life. “He prevented his firearm from being taken from him and used against him, and that's called saving your life,” Zimmerman Jr. told Morgan, a night after his father, Robert Zimmerman told Fox’s Orlando outlet “that Trayvon Martin got on top of [George] and just started beating him.” Video Does Not Support Claim Of Attack This claim, despite the fact that police surveillance video shows no signs of blood or bruises on Zimmerman. The incidence occurred on February 26th of this year, when George Zimmerman, 28,, a member of a Florida neighborhood watch unit, encountered the young, African-American boy walking through a neighboring gated community. Robert Zimmerman said, “What Trayvon said was, either to the effect of, I believe, ‘This is going to be easy, you die tonight or you have a piece, you die tonight.’ And then attempted to disarm him. So when [you say,] he had a bag of Skittles and an iced tea ... nobody just stood there with a bag of Skittles and iced tea. You return force with force when somebody assaults you.” George Nearly Unconscious As He Fires The Fatal Shots “George was out of breath. The last thing he remembers doing was moving his head from the concrete to the grass, so that if he was banged one more time he wouldn't be, you know, wearing diapers for the rest of his life and being spoon fed by his brother,” he said. “There would have been George dead had he not acted decisively and instantaneously in that moment.” Robert Zimmerman told Morgan he’s “confident the medical records are going to explain all of George's medical history," adding he’s sure Trayvon broke his brother's nose in the melee. The Zimmerman family has been the target of thousands of death threats in the wake of the shooting. These accusations against Trayvon enraged family members, as well as the black community across the nation, a feeling of racial bias, political misdeeds, and unjust law enforcement brought to the forefront. Public opinion suggests that many people feel Mr. Zimmerman should have to stand trial for murdering the teenager. A voice heard crying for help on a 911 call just before Trayvon Martin was shot to death was not that of George Zimmerman, according to two forensic voice identification experts, one of whom told MSNBC that he believes the evidence is strong enough to use in court. On April 11th, George Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, a special prosecutor announced. Zimmerman, who had been in hiding, turned himself in, his new lawyer told CNN legal analyst Mark NeJame. The suspect was transported Wednesday evening to the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center, police said.
