This land is a cold desert amidst the rain shadow region of the Himalayas. Do you know why you need to be careful and be physically equipped for your journey through the rugged terrain? Well, here is an insight into what to expect and how to be prepared for your challenging trip. Owing to its numerous trekking trails, Ladakh can be called the heaven for trekkers from across the world. Trekking in Ladakh is a rewarding experience, as on your route you have to cross various rivers and spectacular valleys that are breathtakingly beautiful. Physical fitness is not just what is required here; trekkers must be prepared to confront the hardships of trekking in a far-flung land. The topography of Ladakh experiences intermittent fluctuations in its temperatures. The days here are pretty warm, even hot, due to the desert landscape; the evenings can get unpleasantly cold. To beat the changing temperature, make sure that you carry a pullover and a jacket. Also, as we know trekking requires more of walking, a pair of sturdy shoes with strong rubber soles along with woolen socks will be ideal. Carry a good sleeping bag along with an insulated ground pad, to make sure that you get a sound sleep after trekking. Trekking should be undertaken in groups and accompanied with good trekking guide. Other essentials include lip salve, moisturizers and sun cream, water purifying tablets, medicines for high altitude sickness, etc. Do not forget to carry good flash light with enough spare batteries, a sun hat and a pair of sun glasses.
